It’s been a long while since I’ve had it in me to pay attention to my dear friend le blog. But after a few cloudy months, the sun is coming back and the inspiration is overflowing again. Sometimes, we all just need a moment to step back, re-access, decide what it is your looking for and go after it…… in all areas of life. It took a bit, but the vision is back in focus!
I also need to be honest that I had other distractions taking up my life. I was cheating on le blog with my other lover, pinterest! I moved apartments which spawned a whole new level of inspiration in interiors. Don’t worry, that’s going to be a feature during the week as I have become crazy over it. Hello Eames anyone? Bottom line, I’m back!!
Until tomorrow,

So last night, genius here was ill prepared for the weather change. A shift wool dress with flats was perfect for the morning, however for the bike stroll home, the brisk fall air with light drizzle, presented a chilly situation. My mind wandered freely over the Brooklyn Bridge. Stars and puffy clouds moving with wind. City lights behind and in front. Fur and skinnies, cables and mohairs, boots and scarves dancing in my head. Fall had arrived in a flash and I could have danced on my bike that second. (let’s not forget the perfect accessory…red vintage cruiser with the bell and vintage basket friends.)
As I revamped the armoire and closet late last night, sweaters moved forward and strappy silks moved back. Furs moved center and light weight trenches moved left. It was a game of chess for the fashion lover. But there were holes to be filled and items to be placed…the shopping list began. What would I need this season?
Until tomorrow,

My “little” friend turns 1 today! We were all asked to write her a little note in a book for her to read later on in life. Of course, I sat there thinking, “what do I tell Twola that will mean something?” Naturally I had to list the key fashion rules, (hello, leggings are not pants)! The rules of spending beyond your means, (Celine and Chanel are not in this equation…investment pieces people). And the one thing that means the most to me…love. If it’s one thing I think not only Twola needs to expierence in life, but all of us, is true, maddening, all-consuming love. The kind that knows exactly what you are going to say before you do. The kind of love that makes you a better person! Happy Birthday T…may you find the love that fairytales are made of!
Until tomorrow,

Most pick a list of things to work on January 1. But, with 30 candles waiting to be blown out in less than 48 hours, I thought I would think of what I’ve been missing the last 29.

Fashion week month has arrived! Fashion at its finest. Style at its best. Days filled with a frenzied excitement. What’s next? What’s the story? I’m never going to catch a cab. Let’s hope for the sake of our shoes that all snow systems stay to the south. Fall 2011….is here. My mornings will now consist of 4am wake-up calls for the latest postings. Moods influenced by emotional collections. New York always gets the party started with Paris signing off with a kiss. Saving the best for last…..My heart strings will be pulled to infinity. Moments that one is transported somewhere else. I can hardly wait to see what Karl will present…Swan Lake set the bar high. What will Issie present? Will I be a stark raving lunatic again hitting Google refresh for latest news post? Yep, pretty certain. Where will I find Anna and Emmanuel? I wonder if they will be sitting side by side at the Conde Nast breakfast? Note to self: I must be in attendance for that next season. What will Marc bring to the table? I am already tired of the 70′s influnce so let’s hope it’s more in-line with his “Somewhere over the Rainbow” suite. Kors celebrates his 30th! Can you believe he has been doing this for the same amount of time I have been on this planet? I feel so old. Mr. Wang opens his first store. The little mecca in Soho is going to be seeing me plenty this spring. Marant, Wang, Adler, MJ, Le Pain for my arugula and goat cheese salad…I’m going to go broke. Note to self: Ask realtor about locations available. On second thought, don’t ask realtor for available locations. Your rent does not warrant new purchases from the above mentioned. Don’t worry friends, if I don’t show up to the office, it’s a work-related absence. Lincoln Center called and mentioned they saved me a seat to document the greats. One really needs to stop living in a fantasy world.
One of the two best months are upon us. Just when we are wishing for spring…fall will be strolling on in and we will be thanking the winter Gods for letting us scour our closets for looks inspired by the greats. Set your alarm folks, it’s going to be a loooonnnnng month. And we are just getting started……
The Top Ten
I heart Isabel Marant for everything she puts in front of us.
Marc is one of the few that can transport you to another world…just through clothes.
Because Diane just makes you feel pretty.
Jack and Lazaro bring out the best in the downtown girl!
The Rodarte sisters put the sci-fi and fantasy into fashion time-after-time.
Karl owns the fashion world….and my heart.
Alexander is the boyfriend we all want to have!
Oh Stella, you just make the world a better place!
What doesn’t Phoebe Philo make cool?
Hannah MacGibbon brings out the pretty and delicate in us all!
Until tomorrow,
xoxo

I am just as shocked that I am writing this. But, after one snow-ice-sleet-rain storm too many, my mood is shot for anything winter. I know, you are saying, “What? You? The person obsessed with fur jackets and all things fall fashion?” Yep, ME! I want long, flowy bohemian dresses! *Yes, this is a false statement, as I will not be leaving my French style and all things black anytime soon. I want days on the sand with The New Yorker and The New York Times. *Yes, Vogue and all other fashion publications will be in company too. I want sore arms and a sunburned nose from paddling around on my borrowed surfboard. **Yes, I did actually try this in Hawaii and I applaud all you out there that can actually get up on the board. I haven’t succeeded at that yet. I want to go back to Hawaii and not have to think for a whole week. I will see rainbows from end-to-end and stars that light the whole sky up. **Yes, these are the finer things in life. And as much as I complain, whine, drive all in my company nuts in the summer months, loathe bikinis and swimsuit season…these really are the best months in your life.
Until tomorrow,
xoxo
**Dedicated to my sister and best friend….thanks for teaching me the finer things in life and just how important it is to “collect your thoughts.”

Vogue magazine….few words can describe my love affair with the magazine and the two key players of this publication: Anna Wintour and Grace Coddington. However, today’s revealing of the new cover girl for February, Kristen Stewart, had me questioning the mentaility of 4 Times Square. Surely, there are other girls that could grace your cover?!?! I look at the other popular Vogue’s of the world, specifically, British and Paris Vogue’s and am astounded at the lack of indivuality that American Vogue has to offer. Is is necessary to put a tween tabloid star on your cover to attract the US Weekly generation? No, it’s not. One point that Miss Stewart was a horrid choice for your cover: She has no fashion sense. Vogue is the aspirational magazine that women look to for fashion. A grey hooded sweatshirt on daily occasions and lack of class is not the foundation for Vogue. No lover of fashion would ever take her Louboutin’s off at a premiere from pain. Trust me, we have all suffered in toe-pinching, arch-breaking pain. We suffered through it. For fashion.
Let’s take Alexa Chung for example…classy, interest in fashion, a fashion icon in her own regard and has an artistic talent. Did I mention she actually collaborated on 2 lines….and not just from slapping her name on them either. Do I care who one is dating? No. I care how the cover girl is going to relate to the fashion of the season and what impact she is going to have on American culture. The Twiglight Saga? Not so much. When will selling your fashion soul to the paparazzi culture be enough? Is the Kardashian brood next? “Doing what is right is not always popular,” a popular quote we were taught early on might want to be delivered to the commanders-of-chic at 4 Times Square. They need to think of this and look to their relatives across the pond for cover girls. So Ms. Wintour, if you are listening, I have a carefully edited my list for 6 future cover girls. I will gladly help interview them and style. Don’t get me wrong, 2 of your covers of late were astounding: Carey Mulligan and Natalie Portman.…JACKPOT. Poised. Classy. Style-innovators. It leaves me wanting to know more!
March 2011:
Let’s just cut to the the chase… Alexa Chung is a huge miss to your readership. Sure, she is not dating Robert Pattinson. But then again, I don’t care who any of these girls are dating. She hasn’t even graced Teen Vogue, which in itself is a crime to the American public. She speaks to the fashion-hungry individuals. We follow her for what’s next. Who else can make peter-pan collars chic with a Chanel 2.55 on her shoulder? Not many. She has vision. Ms. Chung makes you think twice before you walk out the house. Fashion is about being memorable. Legendary. Inspirational.
April 2011:
Since it is a fashion magazine after-all, let’s get back to putting models back on your cover. This is an entirely different conversation, but really, if I am looking to fashion for the dream that it is, why not put the whole story together with the appropriate wearer of the garment? Karlie Kloss. An American Dream nonetheless. And one of the greats of our time. Grace has done some of the most beautiful stories with her. Why not grace her with the cover? I can see it now…. Demarchelier taking the photos, settings in the Catskills, spring awakening. Models understand the blood and tears behind the work of fashion. Plus, this is what they do day-to-day. I can guarantee most of these girls walked in the designers show, so chances are, she’s pretty close to the product and story behind it already.
May 2011:
Clémence Poésy, OK, now she would have been the better choice to Kristen Stewart. Yes, she is an actress. Yes, she was in Harry Potter. Yes, she recently was Chuck Bass’s love interest on Gossip Girl. But, Clémence has staying power. A fashion leader in France and many of her American followers find her French girliness refreshing. It’s a new look to the American sportswear movement that is clinical modernism at its best. She actually, would be an excellent leader for bringing in some French style stateside. Classics with a twist? Yes, we need this!
June 2011:
Diane Kruger.…need I explain more? I am still using the Hollywood set as part of your cover stories. The only difference is I am suggesting actresses that actually have instigated a fashion movement. She is her own stylist. She understands Chanel. She is obsessed with the world that so many of us find ourselves seeing fantasy as real. Mr. Lagerfeld sees her as a muse and of interest. She uses what the designers have given her as her playground.
July 2011:
While Chanel Iman has graced your cover, she has had not her very own cover. Here is a model that has made it. I remember meeting her the first time at the Bruce fashion show, captivated by her classiness at such a young age. Her mom in tow, being the supporting aide, helping to get her dressed and protecting her so she would not fall victim to a crazy lifestyle at an influential age. We have watched her grow into an amazing young lady and her pictures mesmorize us. Why not put another American beauty of your cover? She’s another one that speaks to the American public…you too can make your dreams come true with some hardwork and pleasing personality traits.
August 2011:
I feel there are no words that are needed to explain why Freja Beha Erichsen is key to your cover page. She will and is quickly becoming the Kate Moss of our time. Not one model has the editorial and catwalk strengths that she has with equally powering punches. Season-after-season she is the one that delivers the impact in both the campaign portion and the inital presentation in fashion weeks. A look all her own, she is quickly writing fashion history.
Vogue, you will always have my heart. But it is the lack of creativity and fundamanetal fashion beings that you are failing to deliver. I look to you to bring the trends, the stories, the romance of fashion. If I wanted to read about who was dating who, I can easily pick up one of the many tabloids that grace the counters of every drugstore. Vogue presents the fairytales that tell the most beautiful stoires through their clothes. Don’t let celebrities tarnish your reputation or take the importance of what the “fashion leaders” of our genre are presenting. It’s not always about the mighty dollar. Sometimes, you just have to follow your heart and stay true to who you are. It might not make you the million dollars, but your true loves will follow you the whole way through. I know I will.
Until tomorrow,
xoxo

Resolutions to come soon….yes, it involves less shopping and more saving…..And after that thought, I need another glass of wine…Stat!
