#nyfw…and fashion month too

It’s here kids! It’s here!!!! Spring 2013. While searching for pieces to grace my closet for the immediate season in front of us I came across this little number. A perfect notebook to add for all of what fashion month graces us with: sketches, fabrics, prints, quotes, details…it all fits. A black pebbled cover, the 4 best cities and it all fits in Céline. Now I just need to stop by the art store to get it’s perfectly matched pen. One could never use dull ink for this beauty.

Happy Fashion Month!!!!

Until tomorrow,

xoxo

island fever

Seldom, if ever, do I get excited about sand, surf, sun and the dreaded item of clothing known as a swimsuit. However, the tides have brought in a new found appreciation and dare I say….obsession into the world of swim and all of its offerings. I am pretty certain it has to do with the fact that one of my sisters is getting married in t-minus almost 6 days and I am lucky enough to be jet-setting to Maui with my other 2 sisters and the beau to celebrate in her wedded bliss. Good times ahead indeed! The new job is definitely helping with appreciation of all things color, print and pattern, island landscapes, sunbeams and sexy little things. What was scary is now so inspiring…that little maillot de bain.  I’ll be steering clear of any green salads this trip around and I am even going to venture out to paddle-board in my polka dot bikini.

Until tomorrow,

xoxo

Dedicated to my sister…. it’s taken awhile but I see a small sparkle of the diamond you always have seen in the sea.

Books are one of my true great loves. They transport you. They take you somewhere away from where you are, maybe even put you where you want to be. The Great Gatsby was one of my most beloved novels. I’ll never forget sophomore English class, I found great substance in Jay and Daisy’s love affair. I always argued the other side. Every relationship is worth fighting for right?

My love affair has only grown more with the latest revival of the 20′s. Cathy Horyn might be ready to see it all go away, but I’m not. My dear Alber showed us the moat amazing resort collection with his 20′s dresses. And this one just made my heart soar! Carey for sure is the only one who could pull this off. I applaud you!!! And Alber, I simply love you!!! You keep me going!

And with that, I’m off to order another copy of my great love affair. Need to brush up before Carey debuts as Daisy and takes home the Oscar.

Until tomorrow,

obsession du jour

It’s Tuesday!!!! And that means, it’s the obsession of the day, week, month, year and so on. Now, we all know that I don’t fancy a print for myself. While, I love prints…hello Celine and the botanical masterpiece, I just can’t seem to pull them off without looking like a nit-whit. However, a dot is different. It’s not really a print. It’s more of a little pattern that gives a lil’ pep in your step. I would never wear this in a dress or maxi clearly, but a silk blouse, a denim pant (obvi) and even a little scarf around the neck and I’ll be seeing stars. Those don’t count as a print either.

A dear friend and mentor for many years is the genius behind the obsession du jour. Reiko always loved a dot in our old PTF assortment marathons. What’s not to love about a stripe and a dot was the usual antidote. Marc Jacobs and his accessories never seem to fail me with RK at the reigns of these perfectly designed creatures.  Perfect for everyday strolls, days at the beach, short-lived as they are or even little date nights out. They just get it. I feasted my eyes on this little collection and nearly ordered every piece. Can we just talk about the most stunning shades of blue? Piercing! And the essential, classic black and white combo? Why this will add a lovely compliment to my everyday styling. Fun. Classic. Quirky. So me. So you. Thanks Reiko for keeping the dot in all its glory.

Oh, the endless inspiration of the dot.

the color combination....my blue heaven!

a lovely everyday accessory to any other handbag in your graces that day.

a modern-day addition to my dismal palette. (my pick too)

and this one makes walking the dog even easier!

Until tomorrow,

xoxo

obsession du jour

With 2012 upon us and a recent trip to a sunny Miami, there’s a few obsessions to be had. As I mentioned yesterday, the blog needs to be a top priority this year. I am thinking of new little ideas to keep the posts regular, my readers informed and of course along for the ride with me. So Tuesday’s are going to be a little column on what my little heart is festering on.

We all know my obsession with Céline….more like disorder, but we all have our issues. On our little outing to Bal Harbour, the only current store in the US, I knew my excitement would only build as we got closer. (anytime the flagship wants to open on Madison would be lovely.) I could feel its presence from the parking lot. No sale items. No crowds. Just me and my Céline’s. Phoebe Pinks, Philo Purples. Prints. Neons. Brights. Shoes. Leather jackets. Bags. More bags. Wallets. Cashmere sweaters. Washed Denim. It was all there for the taking. As I grazed from fixture to fixture, hand sweeping motions across the most luxurious of fabrics, my heart would swell. Every detail noted. Every detail loved. My shopping partner quickly reminded me of the spending freeze we were taking part of. I nodded with disagreement, but kept my end of the deal up. I fixated my eyes onto the sunglasses as a way to escape this depressing conversation. Well, we are in Miami folks and it was blinding sunny. This didn’t warrant approval to purchase.

And there I tried a pair on…. Two pairs. Three pairs. The whole display.*

Here’s the thing about Céline….classic, timeless, cost per wear is less important than compliment per wear.** Go figure, that the Audrey shade swept my heart. Breakfast at Tiffany’s? My ultimate favorite! So there we were…Audrey and I discussing just how fantastic these would be to conceal my stalking PR moves. And then…. my dream cloud vanished and I realized I wouldn’t be having these to shield my eyes from blinding price tags or fashion crimes until April 1…or when NYC opens. Ladurée macaroons and new sunnies for a grand opening? It’s only fitting.

one of my true great loves

the one and only audrey

a fantastic shade of blue

or in nude...lovely against black outfitting options

sunnies are a spies best friend

*accessories would be passed onto a future daughter, long life span potential

**future post regarding equation:

COST PER WEAR: $355/300 days (65 bad weather days) = $1.18 a day. less than a diet coke purchase.

COMPLIMENT PER WEAR: “I’m obsessed with (insert accessory or item of clothing here). They look simply amazing on you!” Well that’s simply priceless and can’t be measured. And with that, it’s a “Thank. you. very. much.” (Sorry Amex, but you just lost the argument) but more on that later.

Until tomorrow,

xoxo
